This Lars Eller goal resembled a rugby scrum more than a hockey play

Capitals forward Lars Eller scored the most bizarre goal of his career Friday night in Raleigh.

After the puck was jarred out of the corner, the Capitals and Hurricanes formed a rugby scrum near the crease. One team tried to clear; the other tried to score.

Lars Eller ended up being the victor after a crazy bounce.

  • Referees rule it a good goal.

Here’s a closer look of Vrana’s shot clanging off the post and striking The Great Dane.

The Capitals initially credited Jakub Vrana with the goal.
