As the Carolina Hurricanes bring their moms on the road this week, the Caps Dads are joining their sons for their annual Mentors Trip.
The mentors, which include dads and brothers, were welcomed by the Capitals at the hotel in Minnesota. The cutest part? When Olaf Eller spotted Lars, he was so excited to see his son that hugged him through the leaves of a large potted plant. Stop the cuteness!!

As Lars rounded a corner to say hi, Olaf just couldn’t hold himself back.
Olaf has extra reason to be excited to see his son. Lars signed a new five-year deal this past weekend.
The mentors became an official member of the Capitals team on Thursday. Taking part in team activities such as reviewing video, the mentors get to experience what their sons do everyday.
“It seems like it is a reunion every year for some of the dads that have been here long,” Braden Holtby’s dad Greg said earlier today. “[I]t’s always fun meeting the new dads and getting their perspective and just catching up. It’s like a reunion.”
The mentors will be traveling with the Capitals to Chicago and will enjoy an off day in the Windy City tomorrow.
