Los Angeles Kings have players’ dogs race during game for charity

The Los Angeles Kings dedicated their Saturday afternoon game to celebrate some really good doggos. Entitled Stick Up For Animals Day, the players were all invited to honor and celebrate their favorite family member.

During the afternoon’s events, the Kings hosted multiple promotions around the rink.

  • $5 Dog Calendar Sale and opportunity to take a photo with Dodger, Tyler Toffoli’s dog
  • Bid on special, one-of-a-kind pet bowls with all funds going to benefit spcaLA
  • Donate dog food and toys to benefit Wags and Walks, a local adoption center

The last special event of the day was the best. If your love for your favorite players dogs is beyond looking at a calendar, you can now wear their faithful companions’s faces on a shirt. The Kings Care Foundation were selling shirts featuring Anze Kopitar, Jeff Carter, Drew Doughty, Tanner Pearson, Alec Martinez, Jake Muzzin, and Toffoli’s pups.

Look. 👏 At. 👏 These. 👏 Gems.

Gustl Kopitar, Emma Pearson, Darryl Muzzin and Dodger Toffoli also took part in an on-ice race during the first intermission.

It can be scary out on the ice, as evident when Emma wasn’t able to make it down the ice. Darryl was very competitive and won the race by a nose.

The Kings also had a celebrity pup at the game, Gustl Kopitar. Gustl has his own Twitter account (of course run with mom and dad’s permission) with over 7,000 followers and has been friendly with Ovie the Bulldog before.

However he does not have any time for interviews.

I am very serious about getting this event to Washington. I need all the good pups on the ice.
