Nationals Park blanketed in snow less than a week before Nats return to Washington (Photos)

Winter Storm Toby dropped nearly a foot of snow in the Washington DC suburbs Tuesday and Wednesday, closing schools and causing havoc around the area. It also presented a peculiar site at Nationals Park – home of DC’s Major League Baseball team.

Despite MLB Spring Training beginning to wrap up and Tuesday marking the first day of spring, Nats Park was covered in snow.

The Nationals shared two photos of the ballpark on Twitter.

This is perfect weather for another Winter Classic, not a baseball game.

The Nats are set to play their first game back in Washington DC on March 27 – an exhibition game against the Minnesota Twins. The official home opener won’t arrive until April 5th.

Hopefully all the snow melts by then.
