The story of Keelan Moxley, the girl that Brett Connolly tried to throw a puck to and was thwarted, multiple times, has spread far and wide across the internet.
On Thursday, ahead of Game Four in Columbus, Connolly addressed the media with his thoughts on what happened during that now-famous warmup.

“I kind of looked at the dad, made a point, ‘just make sure she gets it,'” Connolly said to the media, via NBC Sports Washington’s Tarik El-Bashir. “It’s funny, whatever happened to ladies first?”
Connolly has been aware of the news coverage surrounding his interactions with Keelan, and has also been in touch with the family since the moment went viral.
“Just seeing her reaction. Obviously I didn’t know until after the game, my phone was blowing up. Everybody saw it,” Connolly said. “It’s really, really cool, just to see something little that you can do for a young kid. I saw her interview. She’s extremely well-spoken for a young kid. She’s a fan favorite now, so she’s getting a little bit of recognition too. She’s having fun with that. That’s what her Mom was saying, that she’s just having the best time ever. All her classmates think she’s famous.”
Washington Capitals owner Ted Leonsis invited Keelan and her family to attend Game Five and use his personal glass side seats. Connolly was also aware that the invitation had been extended, and was glad that they could do something a little extra special for Keelan.
“I saw what Ted [Leonsis] did for their family,” Connolly said. “Any time that we can give back, and put a smile on those young kids’ faces. Ultimately, that’s what it’s all about.”
Enjoy the game Keelan!! Maybe you can get another puck? https://t.co/yj6YaeTdWk
