Michal Kempny’s first career playoff goal gives Capitals early 1-0 lead in Game One

The Washington Capitals have snatched an early lead in Game One against the Tampa Bay Lightning on the strength of Michal Kempny’s point shot. Plus some big bodies in front of the net.

After a few rough shifts early, the Caps were on steady attack. With the top line cycling in the offensive zone, defenseman Michal Kempny took position. Evgeny Kuznetsov sent the pass back, and Kempny released a shot.

With Tom Wilson (6’4″, 218 lbs) and Alex Ovechkin (6’3″, 235 lbs) screening Andrei Vasilevskiy, there’s no way the Tampa goalie saw it.

It’s Kempny’s first career playoff goal.
